Central Catholic is an Archdiocesan Catholic high school that exists to give witness to

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

As a classroom teacher at Central Catholic High School, you are called to be both an educator

and a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You are responsible for fostering each student's

intellectual, spiritual, moral, and personal development in a faith-filled, academically rigorous

environment.

III. Spanish Instruction

Teach five Spanish language courses across varying levels

Deliver instruction aligned with the Central Catholic-approved curriculum and the

standards set by the Archdiocese of Portland and national language frameworks such as

the ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages).

Design and revise curriculum (scope and sequence) to ensure alignment with current

best practices in second language acquisition, cultural literacy, and communication

proficiency.

Develop students’ skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking, with a focus on

real-world communication and fluency.

Integrate authentic cultural materials and practices to promote global awareness,

intercultural understanding, and respect for diverse traditions and perspectives.

Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including immersion techniques,

communicative activities, and technology-based tools to enhance language learning.

Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress in linguistic

proficiency, cultural competence, and interpersonal communication.

Foster a classroom environment that supports risk-taking, celebrates linguistic diversity,

and encourages student engagement in the target language.
