    Southern Oregon University offers the Summer Language Institute, designed specifically for high school and middle school teachers.

    The Summer Language Institute is a unique and intensive program. Students can earn their MA degree in Spanish or French Language Teaching over the course of three summers, or take classes for professional development, all on site in beautiful Guanajuato, Mexico or Angers, France.

    Register now for COFLT Spring Conference Workshops held on 

    Saturday, March 12 at Lewis and Clark College, Portland.  

    This year the spring conference will follow a full-day workshop only format.  Sign up for one of four workshop tracks: 

    1. TPRS/Comprehensible Input
    2. Social Justice
    3. Proficiency in Action
    4. ACTFL OPI Familiarization

    Start or Grow an Arabic or Mandarin Program at your School

    The Teachers of Critical Languages Program (TCLP) aims to help U.S. K-12 schools start or grow an Arabic or Mandarin Chinese language program. TCLP places teachers from China and Egypt in U.S. host schools for an academic year where they teach Mandarin or Arabic language and culture. Funded by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State and implemented by American Councils for International Education TCLP provides teachers’ salaries, healthcare, roundtrip airfare, training, and ongoing program support.

    Travel the world, earn professional development credit, and bring global understanding into your classroom! 

    Founded in 2007, Global Exploration for Educators Organization (GEEO) is a 501c3 non-profit organization that has sent over 1300 teachers abroad on adventurous travel programs. With GEEO educators can earn professional development credits while seeing the world. GEEO's trips are 7 to 21 days in length and are designed and discounted to be interesting and affordable for teachers. In addition to amazing tour leaders, many of the programs are accompanied by university faculty that are experts on the destination. GEEO also provides teachers educational materials and the structure to help them bring their experiences into the classroom. The trips are open to all nationalities of K-12 and university educators, administrators, retired educators, as well as educators’ guests.

    "I will talk about these trips all year in my classes. For so many of my students, my description of my travels will be the only exposure they will have to other countries and other ways of life."

    GEEO is offering the following travel programs for 2016: Bali/Lombok, Bangkok to Hanoi, China, Costa Rica, Eastern Europe, The Galapagos Islands, Greece, Iceland, India/Nepal, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Peruvian Amazon, Peruvian Andes, Portugal/Spain, Heart of the Silk Road, Southern Africa, Southern India, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Vietnam/Cambodia, Western Balkans, Peru (Winter Break), Israel (Spring Break), Moorish Spain (Spring Break), and Morocco (Spring Break). The registration deadline is June 1st, but space is limited and many programs will be full well before the deadline.
