Participants will learn five scaffolding strategies that transform authentic resources into comprehensible input for their students, and they will use those strategies to develop five ready-to-use, Common Core aligned lessons that are centered on authentic resources.

He was the 1977 Incline Bench Press champion of Venice Beach, California. Please follow him on twitter (skrashen) so he can achieve his goal of catching up to Justin Bieber.

He holds a PhD in Linguistics from UCLA, as well as an honoraryDoctor of Humane Letters, awarded by Lewis and Clark College, Portland. He was elected a member of the Reading Hall of Fame in 2005.

Karen Rowan has been a teacher trainer in Comprehension Based Methods, including TPR Storytelling since 1996.  She taught middle school, high school and community college Spanish for 11 years. She now teaches Spanish to adults through Fluency Fast Language Classes.

She is the author of the TPRS ancillaries for Paso a paso and Realidades and the author of the Isabela series of readers in Spanish, French, English and Latin (The Adventures of Isabela, Isabela Captures a Monkey and Carl Doesn't Want to Go to Mexico) and Don Quijote, el ultimo caballero. Karen has also been the editor of The International Journal of Foreign Language Teaching, http://www.ijflt.org for 11 years.  She specializes in basic TPR and TPRS training and coaching; personalization and reading strategies.

Our team (Stephen Krashen, Jason Fritze, Linda Li and Karen Rowan) has trained teachers and taught adult language classes to thousands of adults in Colorado, California, Tennessee, Texas, Minnesota and Istanbul, Turkey, balancing theory and practice at all levels of language instruction.

She taught for two years at Syracuse University and four years at a public middle school in Anchorage before making the decision to stay home with her own children full-time. While her kids are sleeping, she sneaks away to post CI-based lesson plans, activities, and strategies on her blog, “The Comprehensible Classroom” (www.martinabex.com).
