The LILL Award is granted to a top-notch language educator or emerging leader to represent COFLT in the Leadership Initiative for Language Learning. LILL began in 2015 as a collaboration between state, regional and national language organizations of the US, with the goal of building capacity for leading change and implementing language education initiatives. The applicant must be an educator who has worked with world languages for a minimum of 1 year. The recipient of this award commits to the COFLT board for a minimum of two years.
Is actively working in the field of world languages;
Exhibits energy, positivity, and a growth mindset when approaching a project or task;
Is self-confident, a self-starter, and a self-motivator;
Shows grit and perseverance when confronted with an obstacle, problem, or issue;
Exhibits distinguished leadership and committed service to COFLT and the world language profession; and
Is willing to carry out LILL obligations and represent Oregon languages locally, statewide and nationally.
This is a two year commitment. Recipient must either join the COFLT board for two years or continue to be part of the COFLT board for an additional two years. COFLT commits the registration costs, travel, and shared housing for the LILL Summer Learning Institute. The selected LILL representative is responsible for all other costs.
